Actually Srila Vyasadeva recited everything and Sri Ganeshji took dictation, writing it all down in the form of books. So Srila Vyasadeva recorded all the Vedas, including Bhagavad-gita As It Is, in written form. So that is how the knowledge was passed down.īut around 5,000 years ago a great sage and the literary incarnation of Krishna, Srila Vyasadeva, Veda Vyasa, could understand that with the advancement of Kali-yuga, the degraded age we are currently in, men would become less intelligent and their memories would no longer be able to perfectly remember and recite the Vedic scriptures. 5000 years ago there were brahmins who were sruti-dhara, whatever they heard they could perfectly remember without any fault for life. Bhagavad-gita, and all the other Vedic Literature, up to 5000 years ago, was passed down perfectly from spiritual masters to their disciples in the discplic succession. Material world is an eternal cycle of creation and destruction, there is a beginning and end of each cycle, but the cycles go on eternally. So the bodies are all there, waiting, and when some living entity, according to his consciousness, requires a particular type of body, it is supplied.
So all these 8,400,000 types of bodies, or species if you like, they exist eternally on the etherial platform. Every living entity is evolving or devolving in the cycle of 8,400,000 species of life, and according to his consciousness at the time of death he is given another body in his next life. Just as now, in this material world we are experiencing, we see that all sorts of living entities are taking birth simultaneously, according to the state of their consciousness which they carry with them from their previous births, also in the beginning of the universe, all the living entities took birth simultaneously in bodies matching the state of their consciousness at the time of the devastation of the previous creation. The most highly developed and cultured personalities existed from the very beginning of the creation. It is not that intelligence evolves gradually from a primitive form and develops through chance mutations. So the most highly evolved personality was the first person to be born in the universe. The reality is the first born creature in this universe is Lord Brahma, and Lord Brahma is the most evolved creature in the universe. This is a great mistake.Īctually the whole idea of evolution is a mistake. So science is totally mistaken when they consider that prior to 5,000 years there were only monkey like men living in jungles. So there is no beginning to it, it is an eternal cycle. This cycle of creation and destruction in the material world is eternal.
So that is the great significance of the 5,000 years.īut yes, you are correct of course, the Vedic civilization goes back practically eternally.
So it was the end of the previous Dvarpa-yuga that Krishna appeared, and as Krishna disappeared the Kali-yuga started.
